While being on a holiday in Kenya I met Vincent, who is active in the sports business with a running shop and a weekly running community in Karen, Nairobi.
As we are both having a background in triathlon and cycling, we quickly connected and became friends. Vincent also got the idea to repair my 14 year old road bike, which had a crack in the carbon in Kenya
Our passion for endurance sports, our experience in various fields lead us to the business idea of Pedal Forward Kenya. We want to further increase the cycling community in Kenya, and we love the sustainable and supportive value of our project.
Outsorted bikes in Europe, which would be thrown away are shipped to Kenya, repaired and well serviced before bringing it to the market and forwarding the life cycle. We also take frames with broken carbon, repair them, and return them to a functional state. Young unemployed Kenyans will be trained to service the bikes and not only get a job but also put closer to sports.
Erwin is a 51 year old professional Finance Manager with experience as CFO and Head of Finance in Global Corporations. In the past 15 years he dedicated his time to Long distance Triathlon and took part in the Ironman World Championships. He is also a certified triathlon instructor and wants to give further his experience in triathlon and cycling. Erwin is living in Vienna, Austria and has a second home in Nairobi, Kenya.
Vincent is a 40 year old former professional short distance triathlete, growing up in the slums of Kibera, Nairobi and finding his way out of poverty by focusing on sports and travelling the world. Nowadays Vincent is a successful business man, located in Nairobi. His main focus is sports industry but also supporting and connecting local businesses in Karen, Nairobi.
